Antithrombin (AT)
Antithrombin III (also known as Antithrombin, ATIII) is a natural anticoagulant that inhibits thrombin and other procoagulants involved in fibrin formation (such as Factor Xa), preventing excessive clotting and maintaining a balanced haemostatic system. Its inhibitory activity is greatly enhanced (up to 1,000-fold) by heparin; while deficiencies or dysfunctions in antithrombin are associated with an increased risk of thrombosis. Our comprehensive range of research reagents and diagnostic kits include antithrombin deficient plasma, affinity-purified antibodies and neutralisation sets, purified human antithrombin, chromogenic and latex turbidimetric assays for measuring antithrombin activity in plasma.
